            • 參考答案:    In Weifang, Shandong Province, kites not only provide entertainment, but also symbolize the culture of the city. Weifang is known as the “capital of kites”, with a history of nearly 2,400 years in flying kites. It is heard that the ancient Chinese philosopher Motze spent three years making the world’s first kite right in Weifang. Unfortunately, it fell and broke on its first day of flying. It is also believed by some that the kite was invented by the ancient Chinese carpenter LuBan. His kite was said to be made of wood and bamboo and it had flown for three days before landing.
            • 解題思路:

              1. 原文第一句可以直接翻譯成固定句式:not only…but also…。“不僅僅是玩具”中的“玩具”可以直譯為toy,也可采取其擴充的意思“娛樂,好玩”,即“entertainment”。
              2. 第二句中的“擁有……年的歷史”翻譯為“with a history of…”,做伴隨狀語。
              3. 第三句用it作形式主語,spend…(in) doing sth.表示“花費多長時間做某事”。“墨子”的翻譯為Motze。后面表示轉折的詞可以用however、but、unfortunately等。
              4. 第四句可以用主動語態:some people believed that…,也可以用被動語態:it is believed by some that…。
              5. 最后一句中“飛了三天后才落地”,可以翻譯為“it landed after three days’ flying”,也可以譯為“it had flown for three days before landing”。
